Exchange and contact with the filtration industry

Events Nonwovens

Nonwovens represent a material group with a wide range of applications due to the large number of raw materials that can be used, the numerous manufacturing processes and their combinations, as well as additional finishing processes and the associated broad spectrum of properties. One of the most important technical applications is filtration: It is used in wastewater filtration plants and pond filtration plants, in paper production, in food preparation, for cleaning industrial exhaust air as well as for respiratory protection masks and other applications in which filter material is required.

Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, filter material in general has received increased attention – both by industrial players and the public. There has been a particular increase in demand for air filters that enhance hygiene and safety. These include mouth-to-nose protection like surgical masks and particulate-filtering facepiece respirators as well as filter media for ventilation systems in public and industrial buildings.

Focus on Nonwovens

Nonwovens are the focus here because they represent a group of materials with a wide variety of properties that can also be adapted to the requirements of personal protection and ventilation systems thanks to the large number of usable raw materials and manufacturing variants.

The higher demand has led to effects on prices and availability. However, the industry’s demand for nonwovens for manufacturing processes remains high – even in the pandemic environment. Operators of industrial plants must continue their processes even under the current circumstances, especially as the economy is becoming more positive again after a brief downturn.

What opportunities do operators have to find out about innovations, new developments, and products in the nonwovens sector? An ideal opportunity for exchange and contact with the industry is FILTECH. The world’s most important platform for filtration and separation of all types of media will be held again this year after a Corona-related break. From March 8 to 10, 2022, visitors will get answers to all questions about filtration and separation of all kinds of media at the exhibition center in Cologne (Germany).

More information, wide range if topics

Due to the dynamic development of the Corona pandemic, the longstanding successful combination of trade show and congress has already expanded its website at the beginning of 2021 to include a detailed information area that presents interested parties with solutions for their filtration challenges. In the meantime, however, the focus is on the anticipation of the attendance event. “More than 420 exhibitors have already booked their space at FILTECH and are looking forward to the show in March 2022,” reports Suzanne Abetz from organizer FILTECH Exhibitions Germany.

The wide range of exhibitors and participants in the conference section demonstrates the cross-sectional nature of the focus topic: Filter technology is the key to efficiency and safety not only in the primary processes of the process industry, but also in secondary areas. Thus, visitors to FILTECH will also receive information on the filtration of hydraulic fluids, which literally ensure the smooth operation of machines and plants.

Visitors can also use their participation in the event to obtain comprehensive information about proper ventilation and air purification technology. FILTECH brings together numerous suppliers of ventilation and filtration technology who support plant operators with efficient solutions for production and all other operational areas.

Combination of exhibition and conference

Numerous exhibitors show their products at FILTECH: Separation and measurement technology, analytics and laboratory supplies, services and news from science and research are part of the program. This is because the international event offers visitors not only an exhibition area with the entire spectrum of filtration and separation of all types of media. The extensive conference program also provides in-depth information on current product trends as well as insights into research and development. The program with over 250 presentations has already been published in October 2021. Interested parties can view all dates online and plan their visit.

Large companies are represented as well as special suppliers, plus numerous research and development institutes. “The Corona situation has not diminished exhibitor interest. Large parts of the filtration industry play a decisive role in the challenges posed by the situation. Many new companies will also present themselves for the first time at FILTECH 2022,” emphasizes Suzanne Abetz. As a focused trade fair, FILTECH has the advantage of not having to manage masses of visitors, she adds. “This gives exhibitors and visitors maximum security.”
