Decathlon Strengthens with New Sourcing Hubs and Deeper Local Engagement

Decathlon, the global leader in affordable, high-performance sports products, is accelerating its commitment to India by expanding its operational and sourcing footprint across key manufacturing regions. The company’s latest moves—opening new offices in Madurai and Mumbai, and relocating offices in Ludhiana (to Mohali) and Coimbatore—signal a strategic pivot toward deeper localisation, long-term supplier collaboration, and innovation-led growth within India’s dynamic textile and manufacturing landscape.

This expansion is more than just geographical—it is a reinforcement of Decathlon’s core philosophy: to stay close to the ground, to its people, and to its partners. By embedding its sourcing teams directly within India’s major production centres, Decathlon is driving operational excellence, while also ensuring that its commitment to safety, sustainability, and working conditions is consistently upheld at every level of the supply chain.

The newly inaugurated Madurai office and the expanded Coimbatore space are strategically positioned in South India, a region fast emerging as a hub for synthetic textiles, socks, footwear, tents, and activewear apparel. These developments allow Decathlon to work more closely with local suppliers and deepen its understanding of regional capabilities in raw materials and textile innovation.

The Mohali centre is more than just a sourcing office—it is a Technical Development Centre, where Decathlon teams are working on advanced processes across metals, plastics, soft equipment, textiles, and its flagship “Made in India” bicycle program. This facility exemplifies Decathlon’s vision of combining engineering innovation with responsible manufacturing.

Meanwhile, the newly established Mumbai office brings Decathlon closer to a major commercial hub and sourcing ecosystem. This presence not only enhances its textile and apparel sourcing capacity but also positions the company to work more intimately with suppliers across Western India.

Across these locations, more than 130 teammates—with 60+ in Coimbatore, 40+ in Mohali, 20+ in Madurai, and 15+ in Mumbai—are now actively engaged in reshaping Decathlon’s sourcing strategy for both domestic and global markets. India not only serves a growing base of sports consumers within the country but also exports a significant volume of Made in India products to Europe and other international markets.

Decathlon’s India expansion underscores a long-term commitment to local innovation, employment generation, and sustainable sourcing. By aligning closely with regional suppliers and leveraging India’s manufacturing strengths, Decathlon is not just building products—it is building resilient ecosystems that contribute positively to communities and the planet.

With this localisation-first approach, Decathlon is poised to redefine how global brands partner with India—through trust, inclusion, and shared progress.
