In an interview with The Textile Magazine, Mr. Alexander Wassilewitsch, Head of Sales, elaborated on the company’s global presence, its long-standing association with India and the growth prospects the company sees in the country’s rapidly evolving technical textiles market.

A Specialist in Spinnerets with Decades of Expertise

Enka Tecnica has built a strong legacy as a dedicated spinneret manufacturer serving multiple segments of the fibre and nonwoven industry. The company designs and produces spinnerets for filament and staple fibre spinning, as well as components for nonwovens, including meltblown and spunbond technologies. Additionally, Enka Tecnica supplies jet strips for spunlace manufacturing.

The company operates two state-of-the-art production facilities in Germany. One unit focuses on melt spinning, dry spinning and wet spinning technologies, and also houses the production of jet strips. The second facility is dedicated to manufacturing spinnerets for nonwoven applications such as spunbond and meltblown. This fully integrated manufacturing base ensures German precision, consistency and reliability across product lines.

A Global Footprint with Strong Presence in Asia

Reifenhäuser Enka Tecnica serves a wide global market. According to Mr. Alexander, Asia is one of its strongest regions, led by China, followed closely by India. Outside Asia, the company has deep penetration in Europe and the United States, which together form its three most important global markets.

Despite its worldwide presence, Enka Tecnica relies on strong local representation to stay close to customers. The company works through agents in many countries and benefits from the presence of Reifenhäuser India, its sister concern based in Mumbai. This local presence helps the company support clients effectively, respond quickly to service needs and build long-term relationships in the region.

Long-Term Engagement in India

Enka Tecnica has been active in the Indian market for several decades. Over the years, it has built a stable customer base across key sectors including filament spinning, staple fibre and nonwovens. While the spunlace segment remains smaller in India, the company supplies to a handful of players in this field as well.

Reflecting on the company’s participation at the recent Techtextil India show, Mr. Alexander noted that while the exhibition is smaller compared to events such as ITMA or INDEX, it continues to be an important platform. Most of the company’s key customers attend the Mumbai edition, making it an efficient and focused event. He described the show as compact yet high in quality, offering meaningful engagement with serious buyers rather than large footfalls without relevance.

Competing in a Price-Sensitive Market with Quality and Reliability

India’s technical textiles and fibre processing industries are served by a diverse mix of domestic manufacturers and international suppliers. Chinese manufacturers, in particular, have a strong presence in spinnerets and related components, driven largely by competitive pricing.

Mr. Alexander acknowledged that while Chinese suppliers dominate the price-sensitive segment of the market, Enka Tecnica differentiates itself through superior quality, durability and technical consistency. Certain applications, especially those requiring high accuracy, longer lifespan or specialised performance, cannot be fulfilled by lower-cost alternatives. These niches present consistent opportunities for Enka Tecnica.

He emphasised that the company’s strengths lie in precision engineering, advanced manufacturing technologies and exceptional after-sales service. With a local office in India, response times are fast and customer support is readily available — a key advantage in maintaining long-term partnerships.

India’s Growth Story: Opportunities Ahead

With India’s economy expanding at one of the highest rates globally, the textile and technical textiles sectors have been witnessing strong investment activity. Infrastructure development, improving industrial capabilities and rising domestic demand are creating a favourable environment for companies like Enka Tecnica.

According to Mr. Alexander, India’s growth is clearly visible, especially in cities like Mumbai where rapid improvement in infrastructure reflects the country’s forward momentum. As technical textile capacities expand and fibre producers scale up, the demand for high-quality spinnerets, jet strips and precision components is expected to continue rising.

He believes that India is undergoing a positive transformation and that Reifenhäuser Enka Tecnica intends to be an active part of this evolution. The company sees significant potential in the coming years and expects its market share in India to grow steadily as customers increasingly prioritise quality, performance and technology.

Reifenhäuser Enka Tecnica’s presence in India underscores its long-term commitment to supporting the country’s expanding technical textiles and fibre processing industry. Backed by German engineering excellence, a deep heritage in spinneret manufacturing and a customer-centric approach, the company is well positioned to contribute to India’s next phase of growth. As Indian producers climb the value chain and demand higher precision and reliability, Enka Tecnica’s strengths in quality, service and innovation are expected to gain even more relevance.
