With manufacturing facilities located in Wai and Pune, Maharashtra, GTFL caters to a global market with its products being sold in over 75 countries. The company has established a dominant presence in domestic ocean fisheries and international aquaculture, while also making significant strides in several other industry segments.

Mr. Vayu Garware, CMD, Garware Technical Fibres Ltd. said, ” Growth in FY24 was fuelled by Aquaculture, Geosynthetics and from the domestic business. Net profit before tax increases by 22% in FY24. Sustained focus on fund generation from operations delivered a strong free cash flow for the year. We look forward for a strong H1FY25 on account of continuing good demand in Aquaculture segment from Chile & Norway for our newer solutions. Geosynthetics business also is expected to continue its growth momentum with good visibility.

Breakthroughs in Geosynthetics

Over the years, GTFL has diversified its portfolio to include sports, agriculture, building construction, infrastructure development, environmental protection, transportation, and packaging. One of the standout areas of growth has been geosynthetics, where the company has recorded remarkable success through a wider customer base both domestically and internationally.

Domestically, GTFL successfully executed a challenging project for the protection of the Kargil-Zanskar highway in Ladakh from avalanches. This project involved the complex design and installation of barriers in the avalanche zone, adhering to technical guidelines developed by the Swiss Federal Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research. Another major domestic achievement was the scientific closure and capping of a hazardous waste landfill in central India.

Internationally, GTFL saw substantial business growth in South America, Europe, and the USA. The company’s geo-textile bags and containers for coastline and port infrastructure protection received positive international attention, indicating a promising growth trajectory for this segment.

Aquaculture

GTFL made significant inroads into the South American aquaculture market with the introduction of Sapphire X18, a tailored solution to prevent sea lions from attacking salmon farmers’ nets. The X18 is noted for its efficiency, ease of use, operational benefits, cost savings, and safety. This innovation contributed to the company’s spectacular growth in the geosynthetics business and reinforced its position in the aquaculture industry.

Expanding Global Footprint

With a presence in over 75 countries, GTFL has firmly established itself as a major global player across various business segments. The company’s international outlook is reflected in its financials, with around 60% of total revenue coming from overseas markets.

Strategic initiatives, including continuous customer engagement in South America, have led to a dramatic increase in sales from the region. GTFL also strengthened its relationships with leading farmed salmon producers in Europe and made significant inroads into markets for other high-value farmed fish. To better serve its international customers, the company has expanded its teams in America and Europe.

Demand for Innovation

Innovation is the cornerstone of GTFL’s success. The company’s large R&D team, comprising scientists with advanced degrees in textile technology, has filed around 90 patent applications, of which 24 have been granted. GTFL’s innovations not only offer differentiated and profitable solutions to customers but also address environmental sustainability challenges, with lower carbon, energy, and water footprints compared to competitive products.

GTFL’s application-focused innovations have yielded rich dividends. Notable products include Sapphire CFR, a new-age predator net; X18, a stiff predator net that combines superior protection with ease of handling; energy-efficient Garflow fishing nets; and X12, a non-pharmacological shield that prevents sea lions from entering salmon aquaculture cages. The SNG, a braided bottom trawling HDPE net with high strength and abrasion resistance, has also garnered positive market feedback for enhancing trawl life and reducing fuel costs.

Garware Technical Fibres Limited continues to lead the technical textiles industry with its innovative solutions and global market presence. By expanding its portfolio and focusing on sustainable practices, GTFL is well-positioned for continued growth and success in the years to come.
